Val di Merse & S. Galgano Abbey

This bike tour crosses the Val di Merse, one of the most wild and authentic areas in Tuscany. You will ride through rivers, forests and traces of ancient mining activity that tell the story of this landscape.

The main destination is the Abbey of San Galgano, a striking 13th-century Gothic church without a roof. Its perfectly preserved walls create a unique and atmospheric setting in the countryside.
The return route follows gravel roads through natural landscapes towards the village of Spannocchia, where you can stop to taste local organic products such as the famous Cinta Senese.
